The Omicron variant, with a large number of spike gene mutations was designated a variant of concern (VOC). There is still considerable uncertainty related to the transmissibility, vaccine effectiveness, severity of infection and other properties of the Omicron variant. Preliminary evidence suggests there may be an increased risk of reinfection with Omicron. Creative Diagnostics has been tracking the most up-to-date genomic data of the virus and developing a series of recombinant SARS-CoV-2 variant proteins to support the study of variant.
