Coronaviruses are a family of enveloped RNA viruses that infect various mammals as well as birds. Of clinical importance is the Human coronaviruses (HCoVs), Human coronaviruses (HCoVs) are belong to the Coronaviridae family. HCoVs have been identified to be a frequent cause of respiratory tract infections, causing mild to severe respiratory diseases. The coronavirus subfamily is further classified into four genera:alpha, beta, gamma, and delta coronaviruses. The seven identified HCoVs (HCoV-229E, HCoV-NL63, HCoV-HKU1, HCoV-OC43, MERS-CoV, SARS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2) fall into two of the four genera: HCov-229E and HCov-NL63 belong to the alpha coronaviruses, and the other five belong to beta coronaviruses.
In the investigation of coronaviruses, various molecular and biochemical research tools are available, including molecular test, and immunoassays methods. Molecular test usually based on a technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR), which makes millions of copies of a specific section of the viral genome, amplifying small amounts to detectable levels. Immunoassays usually based on a technique called enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), in which molecules attach to the antibodies or antigen in the sample and produce a detectable signal. All members of the coronaviridae family encoded polyprotein produces four major proteins, envelope, membrane, nucleocapsid, and spike, a protruding glycoprotein that creates the characteristic crown-like morphology of coronaviruses. Immunological tools for the detection and measurement of coronaviruses.
With COVID-19 rapidly spreading globally, The World Health Organization declared the Coronavirus outbreak a pandemic on Wednesday, March 11. This global uncertainty makes infection prevention and control through diagnostic testing and quarantine become increasingly critical. During this period, we are very closely following the changing situation on a daily basis and we support scientists to control or prevent infections with our selected antibodies, proteins and detection kits which supported by detailed data. The products from Creative Diagnostics are for research use only and are not intended for therapeutic or diagnostic applications.
